The O’Brien Chelsea, the National Capital Region’s newest boutique hotel, is thrilled to announce that it is now booking reservations for weekend stays for an exclusive preview before its grand opening in May 2018. Restored to its original splendour, this 1930’s millionaire’s mansion invites guests to indulge in the luxurious comfort, breathtaking panoramic views of Gatineau Park, and thanks to the support of the National Capital Commission, experience the richness and diversity of Canadian history.
The art pieces and some of the furniture in Canadiana Room at O’Brien all belong to the Crown Collection and were donated for use in official residences. The restoration of the O’Brien property was originally sanctioned to be a part of Canada’s 150th anniversary, and, while the official opening of the boutique hotel missed the close of the commemorative year by a few short months, the project is still an active part of the legacy program.
In addition to then unparalleled luxury provided by the O’Brien, guest will have no shortage of reasons to stay and explore. Located 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa, and a few hours from Montréal, the O’Brien is situated in the heart of Gatineau Park : a relative gold mine for leisure activity. Winter months provide world-class X-country ski terrain with a network of almost 50 trails that cover 200 km, while the Summer and shoulder-seasons open the valley up to hiking, cycling and swimming at one of the many pristine beaches of Meech Lake. And, with the The Wakefield Mill and the renowned facilities of the Nordik spa within minutes of its front door, guests of the O’Brien will have access to a multitude of world class spa services.
At the helm of the O’Brien culinary experience, Chef Patrick Marion and his capable team work alongside local artisans and small-scale farmers to source unique, high-quality ingredients to create an unforgettable dining experience paired with local and international wine. Due to the historic nature of the hotel, dinning guest are accepted by reservation only.
